SYMPTOMS

ILD symptoms can mask the symptoms of PH-ILD1

PH symptoms can be similar to those of ILD, which can make it difficult to recognize and diagnose PH-ILD1

Symptoms of PH-ILD2

  • Increased exertional dyspnea
  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Light-headedness
  • Palpitations
  • Lower extremity edema
  • Chest pain
Symptoms of pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease

Symptoms that overlap with ILD3

  • Increased exertional dyspnea
  • Fatigue
  • Cough

It can also be difficult to predict PH-ILD accurately with physical examinations. A recent study showed physical examinations could not be depended on for accurately predicting and finding PH. By the time signs are visible, it is most often late-stage PH.1

Uncover PH-ILD early by screening at diagnosis of ILD, as well as regularly screening ILD patients at follow-up visits.

ILD=interstitial lung disease; PH=pulmonary hypertension; PH-ILD=pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease.
